Port your number to Line
A port moves your existing number from your current provider to Line. You ask for the move in Channels › Calls › Number porting. The Line porting team prepares the paperwork, sends it to the carrier and keeps you updated by email and on the request page.
Before you start
- You need the Owner or Admin role.
- To keep calls coming in while the port runs, divert the number to a Line number. See Forward your existing number to Line.
What the porting team needs
| Number type | What the team asks you for | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| UK landline (01, 02) | Account holder, line type, service address, letter of authority, recent bill. A multi-line account also needs the main billing number. | 4–6 weeks |
| UK 03 | Account holder, account number, service address, letter of authority, recent bill | 4–6 weeks |
| UK freephone (0800, 0808) | Account holder, account number, service address, letter of authority, recent bill | 4–6 weeks |
| UK mobile (07) | Account holder, PAC and the PAC expiry date | 5–7 working days |
| International | Account holder, account number, service address, letter of authority, recent bill | 4–6 weeks |
Rules:
- One request holds one number type. A landline and a mobile need two requests.
- Every number on a multi-line account must move together.
- The letter of authority must be dated in the last 30 days. The porting team can send you a filled-in letter to sign.
- Line cannot port 070, 076 (pager) or other UK ranges that the carrier does not list as portable. The form tells you when a number cannot be ported.
Get a PAC for a mobile

PACand the account holder's date of birth (DDMMYYYY) to 65075. For example:PAC 01021980. - Read the reply. It has a 9-character code, such as ABC123456, and its expiry date.
A PAC is valid for 30 days. Your provider can also give you the PAC. Your current provider does not need to know who your new provider is.
