Line can send a call on to another phone, for example your mobile. You do this with a **Forward Calls** step in the call workflow of your number. Line forwards only to a number that you verified, or to one of your own Line numbers.

## Before you start

- You need the **Owner** or **Admin** role.
- Your workspace needs a Line number. Line places the verification call from it.

## Verify the number to forward to

1. Open **Channels**.
2. Select **Calls**.
3. Select **Forward numbers**.
4. In **Phone number**, type the number in international format, for example +447700900123.
5. Optional: type a **Label**, for example "Sam's mobile".
6. Select **Call to verify**.
7. Answer the call. Line reads a six-digit code two times.
8. Type the code in **Six-digit code**.
9. Select **Verify**.

The code is valid for 10 minutes. If you miss the call, select **Call again**.

| Status | What it means |
|--------|---------------|
| Verified | A workflow can forward to this number. |
| Existing | Line verified this number before verification calls started. A workflow can forward to it. |
| Awaiting code | Type the code from the call. |
| Needs retry | The check failed. Select **Call again**. |

You can add up to 25 forward numbers. Each number can get 3 verification calls an hour.

### Numbers that Line does not forward to

- Premium-rate numbers (09).
- Personal numbers (070).
- Special-rate numbers (084, 087).
- Numbers outside the UK. To forward to another country, contact support@useline.io.

## Add the Forward Calls step

1. Open **Workflows**.
2. Open the call workflow of your number. If the number uses the default workflow, create a call workflow first. See [Set up what happens when someone calls](https://useline.io/help/workflows/call-workflows).
3. Add a **Forward Calls** step where the call must go.
4. In **Forward To**, select the number. The list has your **Forward numbers** and your **Line numbers**.
5. In **Ring Timeout (seconds)**, type how long the phone rings. Use 5 to 60 seconds.
6. Select **Publish**.
7. Select **Publish & Activate**.

You can also add a number from the step. Select **Add a forward number** or **Manage forward numbers**.

The step has two branches: **Answered** and **Unanswered**. Connect **Unanswered** to another step, for example **Voicemail**.

## What the forwarded phone shows

The forwarded phone shows your Line number, not the caller's number. Line does not record forwarded calls.

## Common problems

**The forwarded phone does not ring, and the caller goes to voicemail.** The number in the step is not verified. The step shows "is not verified. Calls to it go to voicemail." Verify the number in **Forward numbers**.

**Line refuses the number.** It is a premium-rate, personal or special-rate number, or it is outside the UK. Use another number.

**You cannot add the step to the default workflow.** The default workflow is read only. Create your own call workflow.
